The Department of Social Work at Niagara University is seeking applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor for its recently re-accredited CSWE social work program. This position will be responsible for teaching courses, along with research and service requirements, in a well-established, stable, smaller university undergraduate generalist BSW social work program. Our program resides at Niagara University, founded in 1856; a private, Catholic institution sponsored by the Vincentian community and located between the Niagara region of Canada and Buffalo, NY. Hiring will be at the Assistant Level (or potentially above for the right candidate) with a salary commensurate with the applicant's qualifications and experience, for this 10-month appointment. Tenure and/ or promotion will be based on success in this position, as well as accomplishments in teaching, university and community service, and scholarly publications.

The successful candidate must have an MSW in Social Work from an accredited social work program plus three years post MSW Social work practice experience, along with a Ph.D. or D.S.W. in social work or a closely related field (ABD and those close to completing their Ph.D. will also be considered). Highly desired are candidates with LMSW/LCSW or eligible for state licensure.

Responsibilities include teaching three courses per semester (downloads are available for conducting research or engaging in approved service or related activities). The candidate will in all probability teach Human Behavior in a Social Environment (HSBE), Introduction to Social Work, along with Research Methods, and potentially lead our Capstone course for seniors, as well as electives as needed. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Department, College of Arts & Sciences, and the University via participation in various committees and related service assignments. Lastly, the successful candidate needs to be an active researcher/scholar. Expectations for performance in each of these areas as they relate to gaining tenure can be discussed with the Chair of the Social Work Department.

Full consideration will be given to applications received by Sept. 1, 2022. We anticipate the position to begin in January 2023, following the retirement of a member of the faculty.
