Postdoctoral Fellow, Belonging, Equity, and Inclusion Unit (BEI), John Martinson Honors College

The John Martinson Honors College (JMHC) at Purdue University seeks a postdoctoral fellow with research and teaching experience in diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and social justice (DEIBSJ) issues, inclusive pedagogy, and equity-centered programming for a two-year, nine-month position. The successful candidate will teach interdisciplinary courses that focus on DEIBSJ related learning outcomes, and, develop and administer innovative programs that support the college’s commitment to equity and inclusion. Responsibilities include: working with the Belonging, Equity, and Inclusion (BEI) unit to develop and coordinate curricular and co-curricular opportunities that support the growth of the unit; teaching up to 3-credits of DEIBSJ courses per semester; working closely with the JMHC’s Student Diversity Officers to enhance peer-education around DEIBSJ; undertake research and assessment of their curricular and co-curricular work; and, support the unit’s goals and grant applications.  

 

The JMHC is Purdue’s interdisciplinary college that serves highly motivated undergraduate students from every disciplinary school in the university. It is an academic-residential environment, grounded in four pillars: interdisciplinary academics, undergraduate research, global and community engagement, and leadership development. The college serves 3800 undergraduate students, who, in addition to their major, complete a curriculum that helps them achieve these aims. Faculty and staff have a high degree of interaction with students and develop programming to support the curricular aims of the JMHC. The JMHC has a long-standing commitment to diversity and is driven by the belief that diversity supports and enhances every aspect of the educational experience.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in any field is required, along with experience with DEIBSJ related teaching and research. Experience in DEIBSJ related programming and assessment is preferred.
