Job Description:

The Electrician with IFAS Facilities Planning and Operations inspects and performs maintenance and preventative maintenance on all UF/IFAS owned buildings. Duties will include:

Performs electrical repairs to motors, building wiring, electrical equipment and preventive maintenance as required. Travel to job sites may require use of state vehicles.

Obtains quotes from contractors. Provides oversight of contractors’ electrical installs from start to finish.

Provides code-compliant electrical installations for renovations and new construction projects as required.

Tests, repairs and replaces fire alarm control panels and devices.

Works with greenhouse crew to provide hands-on training for electrical systems within greenhouses.

Installs data and telecommunications cables (CAT5) and all associated materials. Other duties as required.

Must have city or county journeyman electrician license or obtain the license within the first six months of employment.

Expected Salary:

$19-23 hourly, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Completion of an approved electrician apprenticeship program; or a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of relevant experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Must maintain a valid Florida driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

City or county journeyman electrician license.
