Position Summary

The Staff Psychologist, Counseling Services is a University counseling center based position. Must be a generalist with specific interest & experience in providing counseling to international college students who are experiencing personal and academic concerns.

General responsibilities include:
  • Diagnosis and treatment of academic, vocational, emotional, personal, social, professional, and peer relationship problems and serve as part of crisis intervention team.
  • Provide instruction, training, and supervision to graduate students, interns, and other staff members;
  • Provide consultation and training to University faculty, staff, and students;
  • Organize outreach activities, such as workshops, seminars on mental health topics.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of all coursework in a doctoral program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
  • Completion of an APA accredited internship program by the start of position.
  • Completion of all doctoral degree requirements in counseling or clinical
    psychology within 6 months of start date required.
  • Licensed as a psychologist in NYS or license eligible within 1 year of hire.

Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one year of university counseling center experience.
  • Fluency in Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Middle Eastern or South Asian languages is highly desirable.
  • Significant experience working with individuals with persistent mental illness.
