The Executive Director, Human Resources Services operates as a transformative and strategic leader for Bucknell in the areas of talent acquisition, employee relations, internal communications, learning and development, and retention. The Executive Director mentors and leads a team of HR professionals to ensure alignment of policies, processes, and delivery of exceptional quality service to faculty, staff, students and the campus community. The Executive Director reports to the Vice President for Human Resources and serves as a member of the HR leadership team.

The Executive Director fosters an equitable and inclusive workplace culture with a clear focus on employee engagement and a sense of belonging. Responsible for operations, assessment, and program enhancements that serve to increase productivity, visibility, and effectiveness of all areas of responsibility, the Executive Director is a visionary, collaborative, flexible, and creative but also is a hands-on problem solver with a track record of designing and delivering customer-focused services modeled on best practices.

Job Duties:
-Build cross functional partnerships that contribute to effective recognition of the value of all people, including working with key colleagues in the Provost's division responsible for equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
-Provide strategic guidance to ensure the successful management of employee relations issues; provide confidential consultation and support HR Generalists, University leaders, and individual staff members to establish consistent, equitable, and balanced support in coaching, performance management, disciplinary action (including employment separations).
-Ensure that the talent acquisition team supports the strategic goals of the University by providing a consultative service that is informed by key metrics and a deep understanding of the needs of our community in the short- and long-term.
-Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws; including duties such as interviewing, hiring, training, and coaching employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising and managing performance; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
-Identify and obtain sound and accurate metrics which identify opportunities to improve existing HR processes and outcomes. Analyze results/trends and implement enhancements to the HR Services process as appropriate. Engage the HR Services team members in the compilation, presentation, review, and implementation of actions resulting from review of relevant data and statistics.
-Manage the identification, development, implementation, and administration of comprehensive and compliant policies and procedures through collaboration with other members of the HR team.
-Responsible for ensuring that staff are provided with significant, well designed, delivered learning and development opportunities for audiences at all levels of the organization. This includes new employees; aspiring, new, and experienced supervisors and managers; and staff in various stages of their career. Ensure that members of the Learning & Organizational Development staff deliver programs that are innovative, accessible, effective, compliant, and engaging.
-Assist the Vice President for Human Resources in formulating and prioritizing departmental goals and objectives, and lead the HR team in the absence of the Vice President for Human Resources.
-Engage members of the leadership team reporting directly to the Operations and Management Group (OMG) who participate as members of the HR Roundtable by developing agenda items, facilitating meetings, and assisting with consistent communication or key policies, procedures, and information across the University.
-Participate as an ad-hoc member of the University Staff Personnel Committee (USPC) to provide key HR-related information to elected committee members.
-Actively contribute to Bucknell's efforts to foster a diverse and inclusive campus community.
-Support and promote the University's sustainability efforts to protect, maintain, and increase the long-term viability and resilience of the University's environmental, social, and economic support systems.
-Participate in campus-wide or department-specific strategic projects, committees, and working groups as needed.
-Perform other duties as required or appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
-Ten (10) years of relevant and progressive experience in Human Resources, including supervision of staff
-Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
-Demonstrated high level of professionalism and exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills, as well as outstanding customer service and organizational skills
-Experience working to cultivate a diverse and inclusive workforce
-Proficiency in applicable technology such as MS Office products, HRIS, ERPs, and other HR-related programs and systems, web and media technologies, etc.
-Ability to strategically and tactically analyze qualitative and quantitative data
-Ability to collaborate, influence, and establish trust with campus partners; previous experience building relationships and working with sensitive and confidential information
-Strong organizational skills; evidence of self-motivation; demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and work both independently and in teams within a service-oriented organization
-Demonstrated success managing multiple projects and competing priorities while balancing the need for quality with meeting deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:
-Advanced degree in HR, Management/Business, Industrial Relations or a related field
-Professional certification (PHR, SPHR, CCP, SHRM-SCP, etc.)
-Higher education experience

Work Type:
full-time, benefits eligible. This position will be considered for scheduling flexibility to work in a hybrid capacity based on staffing and business needs.
