Class Description

The purpose of this class is to serve as a point of contact for students requesting career services.

Locations:
Essex
Catonsville

Minimum Requirements

Master’s degree in Psychology, Education or related field required. Three (3) years’ experience in Career Counseling, Student Personnel Services, Advising/Counseling or Student Development required. Ability to work night and weekends is required.

Class Specific Essential Duties

  1. Provide one-on-one career counseling to a diverse student population.
  2. Provide individual and group instruction to students on resume preparation, interviewing techniques and job search strategies.
  3. Administer and interpret career assessments.
  4. Regularly use Focus2 and Career Coach in your work with students and others.
  5. Assist students with career decision-making and selecting a major/program of study.
  6. Design and deliver career related workshops and classroom presentations.
  7. Incorporate social media and technology in marketing of career services and events.
  8. Develop and implement career and job networking opportunities for students.
  9. Collaborate with colleagues on planning and execution of events such as career fairs, job fairs, Academic Pathways and other relevant college events.
  10. Stay current on career services trends and labor market information; maintain up to date career information and resources.
  11. Incorporate Skype for Business, TEAMS and other online/virtual career service delivery methods.
  12. Utilize College Central for information on Student Employment opportunities and information.

Supplemental (Retirement Annuities) 403(b) and 457(b)
  • Tax-sheltered annuities – 403(b). Payroll salary reduction authorization is needed. The form is available on SharePoint Forms/Human Resources Forms.
    The 403(b) supplemental retirement plan is available to all CCBC employees (Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees).
  • Roth 403(b) is a savings feature that is available when you open a 403(b) account. The Roth 403(b) savings feature allows employees to contribute after-tax dollars and then withdraw tax-free dollars from their account upon retirement. The Roth 403(b) savings feature is only offered by the following vendors: TIAA-CREF and VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees are eligible to save for retirement using the Roth 403(b) savings feature. Employees may contribute traditional pre-tax 403(b) dollars and Roth 403(b) post-tax dollars simultaneously. The savings limits are combined for the Traditional 403(b) and the Roth 403(b) contributions.
  • Deferred Compensation Plan — 457(b) offered through VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. The 457(b) salary reduction authorization form is needed. The form is available on SharePoint Forms/Human Resources Forms.
