Randolph-Macon College invites applications for the Assistant Director of Development for Athletics position in the College Advancement Office. Reporting to the Senior Director of Development for Athletics, this position will engage student athletes, athletic alumni, general alumni, and young alumni, collaborate on identifying giving program initiatives, assist with planning and implementation of college events, and assist in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship programs initiated by the Office of College Advancement.


Responsibilities include:

  1. Implementing a comprehensive, systematic solicitation program in the effort to achieve Yellow Jacket Club fundraising goals.
  2. Coordinating, drafting, and overseeing mass solicitation efforts for athletics to includes all direct mailings, phone-a-thon efforts, and e-mail solicitations.
  3. Engaging student athletes and athletic alumni and soliciting them for a gift.
  4. Collaboration with Annual Giving Team, departmental colleagues, and key volunteers to identify emerging innovative, cooperative development/alumni special giving program initiatives.
  5. Partner with the Events Management staff to plan and execute Yellow Jacket Club Athletic event logistics and the Advancement Team in planning and executing college events such as Homecoming/Reunion weekend, Macon Day, Hampden-Sydney weekend and various other events.

 

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree plus minimum 2 years fundraising experience required.  Experience in higher education fundraising and knowledge of athletics is preferred.  Applicants will possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to recruit and motivate volunteers, and persuasive writing and speaking skills.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database software required. Individual should possess strong initiative, and an appreciation for the purpose and values of a traditional residential liberal arts college.
