Salary & Benefits:                     Starting Salary is based on rank and applicable steps for related work experience as per the Santa Fe College Salary Schedule. Compensation package is comprised of many college-paid benefits including health and life insurance, retirement, leave time, and tuition waivers for Santa Fe College and the University of Florida.

Santa Fe College is seeking a nine (9) month  Assistant Professor of Accounting to fill a continuing contract position that promotes and encourages student success through quality instruction and real world learning experiences, beginning Fall 2022.

 

Under general supervision, the Assistant Professor, Accounting will develop, prepare, and teach business program courses.  Faculty may be assigned to SF’s new Blount Center, the main Northwest campus or housed at any of the College’s six educational centers within Alachua and Bradford counties.  Additionally, course offerings may be taught during the day, evening, or online, as well as taught using various modalities, including distance learning formats. Candidates must have the flexibility to teach at any one of these different sites and at different times throughout the academic year. Full-time faculty have a primary nine (9) month  contract based on teaching 15 credit hours in the Fall and 15 credit hours in the Spring; teaching opportunities beyond contractual obligations, including during the summer may be available for additional compensation based upon department need.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  •  Select and organize materials based on course outcomes/objectives and program learning outcomes.
  • Develop a plan of instruction that responds to the needs of students, the instructor’s teaching style, the goals of the course, and the nature of the subject matter.
  • Establish high expectations for student achievement and sets clear guidelines for success.
  • Provide students with written information about the goals and requirements of the course.
  • Develop methods that fairly and accurately assess students’ progress in achieving the stated learning outcomes/objectives.
  • Provide students with frequent, timely assessment of and clear feedback about their performance.
  • Submit course grades in a timely manner.
  • Assess, on an ongoing basis, course content, methods, and materials and makes necessary enhancements based on college-supplied and other data on student success, satisfaction, and retention, peer and supervisor feedback, and regular self-evaluation.
  • Assess instructional and other student-facing materials to determine the extent to which they are inclusive of diverse voices and experiences and improves them according to assessment results.
  • Incorporate college-required and appropriate technology.
  • Attend discipline area and department or program meetings.
  • Participate in curriculum or program development and review.
  • Contribute to planning for and assessment of the College and department or program.  
  • Stay current in the discipline and related pedagogy.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, especially activities that advance student engagement, learning, and equity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 Reports To: Academic Chair, Business Programs

 

Qualifications

Required: A Master’s degree in Accounting OR a master’s degree with eighteen (18) graduate course hours in Accounting is required.

 

Additional Requirements:  A criminal background check will be conducted.

 

Preferred: A PhD is preferred. Candidates with college-level teaching experience and candidates who can be credentialed in various business disciplines are preferred. Familiarity with the Canvas Learning Management System is also preferred. Familiarity with Quality Matters standards and ACUE teaching practices are preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Relationship Management – able to personally provide high level of interactive service to others, building relationships and addressing identified needs.
  • Problem Solving – proven skills in identifying issues, determining their cause, developing creative solutions, and following through with implementing resolutions.
  • Multi-task - Ability to expeditiously organize, coordinate, manage, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks simultaneously to swiftly assess a situation, determine a logical course of action, and apply the appropriate response.
  • Communication – able to effectively communicate in a professional, diplomatic, empathetic, and tactful manner using preferred method and level as applicable to the job.
  • Systems & Software - proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.
  • Ability to work successfully in a multi-cultural environment.
