Job Description:

The University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences (COMLS) invites applications for the open faculty positions in the UToledo PA program. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the positions are filled. The positions provide an opportunity for highly motivated individuals committed to student success, academic excellence, and advancement of the PA profession to join the UToledo PA program at the University of Toledo as an integral component of the foundational team. Working with the program faculty and staff, these individuals will assist in implementing the program, with a focus on teaching and supporting a transformative student experience within a unique systems-based modular curriculum during the didactic and clinical phases of the program.

• PA faculty are responsible for delivering the educational content of the PA program. The PA program is seeking a physician assistant for a 0.5 FTE faculty appointment with a 0.5 FTE clinical appointment. This position is a 12-month, tenure track faculty appointment reporting directly to the Program Director of the Division of Physician Assistant Studies.

• Positions are announced at the assistant professor level; outstanding candidates may be considered for a higher rank commensurate with experience and scholarly activity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assists in the development, implementation, teaching and evaluation of graduate-level didactic and clinical curriculum for the UToledo PA program.
• Participates in the development, initiation, and incorporation of an array of engaging pedagogical and teaching methods to diverse learners throughout the curriculum in classroom and laboratory environments.
• Develops, delivers and assesses objective driven course materials.
• Develops students learning competencies required for the successful completion of the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE).
• Assesses, advises, evaluates, and remediate students.
• Participates in recruiting qualified student applicants throughout all aspects of the admissions process.
• Provides supervision and academic counseling to students.
• Serves as a small-group facilitator.
• Assists the PA Program with testing and practical examinations as necessary.
• Assists in the preparation of accreditation documentation, to include assessment of teaching and learning, programmatic data collection, analysis of the self study reports.
• Represents both The University of Toledo and the UToledo PA Program at national conferences and professional functions.
• Participates in scholarship and service activities as assigned by the Chair and the Program Director, and as per University/College policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Terminal degree within field, minimum of a Master's degree.
• Current board certification and eligibility for licensure in the state of Ohio as a PA.
• Minimum of 3 years clinical and/or teaching experience in a PA program preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Able to function independently while operating effectively within a team environment.
• Excellent oral and written skills and ability to communicate comfortably with students, colleagues, and external constituents.
