Job Description:

The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, University of Florida, is seeking applications for a non-tenure accruing faculty position in Shelter Medicine and Surgery. The successful candidate will hold a faculty appointment in the well-established Veterinary Community Outreach Program.

The Veterinary Community Outreach Program trains 125 veterinary students and serves approximately 3,000 surgical patients per year. Primary responsibility will include clinical training of professional students in cooperation with two other faculty clinicians. In addition to oversight of the stationary surgical training clinic, job duties also include leading weekly service trips to regional sheltering organizations as well as support for mobile surgical services provided by VCOP. Clinical faculty members are also expected to contribute to the professional advancement of shelter medicine through clinical research, presentations at regional meetings and/or involvement in the professional community. Research responsibilities will be proportional to assignment and will differ depending upon the faculty line that is selected.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the candidate.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants should have a DVM or equivalent degree and should have experience in shelter medicine practice and strong skills in performing and teaching spay-neuter surgery, including pediatrics.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants with a strong spay-neuter background and those with experience training veterinary students. Special Instructions to Applicants:
