Position Description The Research Services Team Leader (RSTL) is part of a service-driven team that supports the research, instruction, and outreach services to the campus community. This position manages the delivery of research and instructional services for the campus and community including classes and workshops, and virtual reference services.

The RSTL supervises seven FTE staff. Administers annual evaluations, goal setting and mid-year review meetings; monitors progress toward goals and advise staff as needed; approve schedules and leave requests. Holds regular department meetings. Reviews and approves proposals for new projects, service policies and procedures. Initiates new programs and services to meet the changing needs of students and faculty. Evaluates the programs and services of the department through ongoing assessment and service statistics. Monitors trends in library staffing to strategically plan for future positions and reorganization within the department. Recruits new staff through the strategic hiring process; develop training programs. Develops procedures and policies for staff. Advocates for resources for staff projects or initiatives. Monitors the professional development and continuous learning of staff, suggest appropriate training and conferences to improve or expand skills.

The RSTL will work with the associate director for academic engagement to play a leadership role in library-wide policy making and, in the development, and evaluation of services. This position also works closely with other areas such as Special Collections, the Freedman Center for Digital Scholarship, Acquisitions and Metadata Services, and Access and Delivery. The RSTL serve as a member of the Kelvin Smith Library Collection Strategies Steering Committee.

Qualifications Team leaders must also have sufficient experience and expertise in the work of the team to serve as a supervisor, advisor and mentor to others. A Master's degree in Library/Information Science.
