The Boerigter Center for Calling and Career seeks a full-time staff person to generate student-focused career content and guide students through advising appointments. This position will have a specific focus on reaching underrepresented and first generation students.

Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the items listed below.
  • Create and curate content for students related to calling and career topics. Maintain content libraries and assist in promoting content and information via social media and other channels.
  • Meet with students in small groups and one-on-one for exploratory advising and career development meetings.
  • Meet with students and alumni in appointments for resume reviews, educating on experiential learning opportunities, academic and career exploration and planning, and other advising needs.
  • Provide leadership to the Boerigter Center team and help ensure our content, advising, and programming are relevant to students underrepresented in higher education and/or with first generation status.
  • Partner with faculty and other campus offices on topics related to academic and career issues of discernment, preparation, and pursuit, as well as experiential learning and employment.
  • Lead workshops, events, and class presentations addressing areas such as strengths, career exploration, discernment, decision making, and planning that can be incorporated in both academic and co-curricular settings.
  • Represent the Boerigter Center at various on-campus and off-campus events.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) and three or more years in higher education, career development, marketing, or related field.
  • Experience in generating content, managing social media, video editing, and/or administering learning management technology.
  • Experience working with students and organizations on promoting knowledge around topics related to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Must have the enthusiasm to be part of a high-energy and entrepreneurial office.
  • Ability to excel as a team player who knows how to create partnerships while also possess the ability to take ownership of her/his own work.
  • Commitment to the goals and character of a Christian liberal arts college.
  • Attendance at events and programs outside of normal working hours may be required. Occasional evening and weekend hours and some travel will be necessary.
Physical Demands
This position requires remaining in a sitting or standing position for frequent periods of time; uses office machinery such as a computers, printers, copy machines; Occasionally involves moving items over 10 pounds; frequently will move between different offices/workspaces/buildings; and requires effective communication abilities.
