Job Description

The College of Education & Human Development is seeking an individual for the position of Senior Academic Advisor to provide advising support to current, new, and prospective undergraduate students.

The Senior Academic Advisor will work with students by applying case management strategies to encourage satisfactory academic performance and engagement in the college community. This position requires the ability to guide students in developing and accomplishing educational plans, strong critical thinking, and memorization. Other essential skills are attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and working independently while developing strong collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, and academic and student affairs staff. Expectations of a successful advisor include: possessing a working knowledge of the College of Education & Human Development curriculum, university policy, and campus resources; gathering and analyzing data to inform advising, interventions, and campaigns; drawing valid conclusions to make appropriate recommendations related to accomplishing academic goals; and, presenting clear and concise information, orally and in writing. In addition, the position requires having a working knowledge of academic advising in a University setting and an understanding of requirements to assist students in their academic planning.

Salary

Salary commensurate with education and experience.

Salary Range: $43,000 to $50,000/ year

Grade: GGS-009

Shift

Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional evening/weekend.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary .

Preferred Qualifications

Preferrd qualification of a Master's degree and one year of advising experience.
