Job Description:
Basic Function and Responsibility:
The Equity Coordinator for ANDALE is a professional within the Office of Access, Equity, and Diversity and responsible for developing and implementing critical initiatives designed to support the college's LatinX student population. Additionally, this position supports the functions of the Office of Access Equity and Diversity (OAED) and the Center for Campus Inclusion and Diversity (CCID).
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day implementation of the ANDALE
program.
- Provide educational opportunities for the college community
with a focus on systemic racism, social injustice, Title VI of the
Civil Rights Act of 1964, and oppression of Latinx people at Oakton
and throughout the United States.
- Plan, implement, and assess program components and
services.
- Manage the financial resources of ANDALE with assistance from
OAED staff.
- Work closely with identified student clubs and organizations to
communicate with Latinx students regularly during the academic year
about student success opportunities.
- Empower, develop, and lead a small team of student equity
advocates to plan, develop, and execute social justice programming
and cultural celebrations.
- Develop and promote ANDALE program through internal and
external marketing and media presence, including social media,
online, and print resources.
- Serve as co-chair to the Undocumented/DACA Student Support
Group. Establish and implement short- and long-term goals,
objectives, and strategic plans to support students directly
impacted by immigration policies. Assist in state level reporting
of critical initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison and advocate for undocumented student issues
and matters such as application process, financial aid, and
scholarships. Provide referral services to appropriate campus
resources.
- Establish relationships with other educational institutions to
develop program resources and a support network for undocumented
students.
- Serve as an advocate to effectively monitor and assess the
on-campus experiences of Latinx students.
- Coordinate end-of-year celebration activities for ANDALE
program.
- Coordinate program assessment and continuous improvement
initiatives with the intention of identifying and closing equity
gaps for the Latinx student population at Oakton.
- Coordinate organizational presence and participation at
identified campus-wide enrollment events and programs.
- Work closely with SLCI staff and campus partners to coordinate
Latinx Heritage Month programming.
- Submit an annual report to the AVP at the conclusion of the
academic year.
- Develop partnerships with existing campus initiatives serving
traditionally underrepresented student populations (i.e. TRIO,
Service Learning, Financial Aid, etc.).
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year
institution
- Experience in diversity training/education
initiatives.
- Knowledge and experience with programming initiatives and
support services related to diversity, inclusion and student
development theory.
- Knowledge of past and current social trends affecting marginalized/non-majority students.
- Fluency in Spanish
- 2-3 years of experience in higher education or related
field
- Graduate student in Counseling Psychology, Student Personnel,
Higher Education or related field.
- Experience with advising and counseling students and recognized
student organizations.
- Experience with leading or coordinating campus-wide student
success initiatives
- Academic and/or student development advising
Mobility to move from building to building on-Campus and to visit off-Campus entities. Work is performed in a general office environment and is sedentary in nature. Little or no exposure to adverse working conditions.

Supervision Received:
Administrative supervision is received from the Director of Student Life & Campus Inclusion. Functional supervision is received from the Manager of Student Life & Campus Inclusion.
Supervision Exercised:
Functional supervision may be exercised over student employees.
HOURS: Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:45 pm
SALARY $51,338
Based on the needs of the college and with Administrator approval, some positions at the college may have remote or hybrid schedule options available. Please note, that during the 65 working day probationary period, employees are required to report to campus.
