Our Counseling Center provides counseling services to students from a variety of cultural and faith backgrounds, enabling them to achieve their academic and life goals. We provide counseling services to students coping with emotional, social, behavioral, and identity-related difficulties common to the college population and we are deeply committed to creating a welcoming, emotionally safe space in which students can be seen and valued in their entirety, including their intersecting identities and unique cultural backgrounds. TheMental Health Therapistwill:

  • Deliver individual and group psychotherapy, conduct psychological assessments, create treatment plans, facilitate psycho-educational workshops, and support students in crisis.
  • Refer students to other resources on campus as helpful.
  • Keep professional records and collateral clinical service.
  • Consult with various university constituencies regarding issues of student mental health anddeliver outreachin the form of presentations and workshops on psycho-educational topics.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of departmental goals and programs including the development of effective dynamics among team members.

Note that we have staff who are able to provide licensure supervision to individuals pursuing an LP in the state of Minnesota.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in counseling psychology or a counseling-related field
  • Two (2) years of post-master’s full-time experience conducting individual mental health counseling.
  • Experience providing mental health crisis intervention.
  • Experience providing culturally proficient clinical services to diverse and underrepresented and historically marginalized clients.
  • Licensure (or license-eligibility) in Minnesota as a psychologist, counselor, social worker, or marriage and family therapist
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in counseling psychology or a counseling-related field.
  • Experience working with college or university students and campus-based outreach programming.
  • Fluency in a language other than English.
