TheRadiography Departmentin the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health offers an associate degree program that emphasizes consideration for the physical and psychological needs of patients and families as well as medical imaging technology. Students gain insights into anatomy, physiology and human disease, and radiographic sciences through a challenging blend of liberal arts studies, professional courses, acute care simulation and clinical experiences. Our goal is to support students in mastering the skills needed to create diagnostic medical images, to provide high quality patient care and prepare them for the national certification exam offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) following graduation. Responsibilities for this role include:
  • Teach didactic and clinical education in the Radiography curriculum, engaging and mentoring students toward successful outcomes.
  • Communicate course objectives and learning outcomes to students and staff, maintaining academic records of all courses taught.
  • Monitor and support student progress in the imaging lab and clinical rotations.
  • Demonstrate, facilitate and evaluate radiographic positioning routines and student progress along with imaging equipment manipulation and safe image acquisition.
  • Faculty will also work with and support Radiography Acute Care Simulations.
  • Ensure that students are well prepared for certification examination conducted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) to include the major topics areas of:
    • Radiation Protection
    • Equipment Operation and Quality Control
    • Image Production and Evaluation
    • Radiographic Anatomy and Procedures
    • Patient Care and Education
  • Join the program director and faculty in delivering dynamic, constantly evolving curriculum, driven by the rapid pace of technological change in imaging methods, equipment and instrumentation, the expanding scientific knowledge base, and advances in instructional technology.
  • Drive regular updates to rigorous course content with the objective of improving student outcomes and adhering to accreditation goals.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of didactic and clinical instruction via student outcomes across the curriculum and recommend changes.
  • Engage in service and leadership including advising, mentoring and guiding students, collaborating with colleagues, participating the department committees and task forces, and participates in professional organizations, and in the community.
  • Demonstrate commitment to intellectual inquiry, maintaining current knowledge of new radiographic procedures, equipment and instrumentation, imaging methods and educational methodology through continuing professional development.
  • Serve on the Radiography Program Advisory Committee and other University Committees, as recommended.
  • Collaborate with other faculty and department leadership to administer the Radiography Program rules, regulations, and policies in compliance with current Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) Standards.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Certified and registered as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)
  • Bachelors degree
  • Two years of experience working in diagnostic radiology within the past two years
  • General radiography content expert
  • Experience in supervision, training, evaluation, and advising/mentoring.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation and academic advising.
  • PACScertification or experience
  • Experience working with students
  • Experience as a Preceptor
  • Radiologic Advocacy, involvement or support (AART,ASRT,MSRT)
  • Quality Control
  • RSOexperience
