Salary for Announcement

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $41,200 – $51,500. The full salary range is $41,200 – $61,800.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

This position will assist in administering HR processes and providing front line HR services for applicants, new hires, current employees, and exiting employees. This position provides services to all types of MSU Denver employees including administrative staff, student employees, and faculty. Position will support the hiring function. Participates in and supports process improvement, HR projects, and research/benchmarking. May direct the work of student and temporary employees.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • 65% Administer the student employment program. This includes processing student employment paperwork, on-boarding new students, conducting new hire orientations, entering assignments into Banner, answering supervisor questions, ensuring the student employment compensation plan is upheld; overseeing data entry of time into the system by students, setting students up for web time entry and conduct monthly/quarterly audits to ensure the university maintains state and federal timekeeping requirements.
  • 15% Request background checks for new student employees. Sort and process all new hire and separation paperwork. Track and process any manual checks and salary supplements. Answering general paycheck questions. Coordinate the computer-related functions of the student employment portion of Banner to ensure maximum efficiency and to serve as a historical record of all student employees. This includes maintaining position control, coordinating the processes for time entry, adhering to payroll schedules, and conducting frequent audits to ensure the compliance of web time entry. Investigate discrepancies and formal and informal reports of suspicious time reporting.
  • 10% Answer general questions about student employment policies for new, current, and potential students. Conduct monthly PeopleAdmin and Electronic Personnel Action Forms (ePAF) trainings. Work with Student Employment Manager to update student handbook and supervisor handbook. Collaborate with Student Employment Manager on various projects and improvements to student employment policies and procedures.
  • 10% Participate in team and individual development activities. Types of development might include increasing technical HR proficiency, customer service, team participation and collaboration. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience working in a Human Resource(HR) office or working in a specific HR role.
  • Experience working in an office.
  • Experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Experience working with confidential information and maintaining confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Experience in Higher Education.
  • Previous experience in Human Resources.
  • Previous experience processing New Hire Paperwork.
  • Experience with Banner or related HRIS system.
  • Experience with developing and creating reports.
  • Previous experience with conducting new hire orientations and other employment related trainings.
Work Hours

Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm; in person to start with option for flex (hybrid) schedule after 3 months.
