Sr. Market Research Manager

We are seeking a Senior Market Research Manager (Communications Associate) who will report to the Associate Dean for Global Marketing and Communications and will support business and marketing strategy by developing data driven Marketing Research through use of primary and secondary quantitative and qualitative research. The ideal candidate is a team player who loves problem-solving and collaboration and who will not be shy to ask questions or voice opinions. They will work directly with the Associate Dean as well as with others in a range of areas within the Global Marketing and Communications (MarComm) department including marketing, social media, web design and creative.

They will work very closely with the school’s Institutional Data and Analytics team to ensure Marketing Research are cohesive and fully informed. They will work closely with and present recommendations and Marketing Research to the Dean, Carey’s School Performance team, and Management Council. Creating both standing and ad hoc or special reports, this position also serves as project lead to external research agencies and efforts and offers data-informed Marketing Research to the Carey Business School’s Communications team. The Senior Marketing Research Manager also works collaboratively to produce performance reports for marketing platforms and products.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify, gather, and lead business intelligence and Marketing Research to assist in development, assessment, evolution of programs, initiatives, and marketing across the U.S. and internationally
  • Lead the development of presentations that use data to present findings or inform strategy
  • Apply data Marketing Research and recommendations to evaluate performance, refine tactics and inform longer term thinking
  • Partner with marketing team, MarComm’s external media agency, and web agency to assess and test advertising content and creative approaches including A/B testing, creative testing, UX assessment, and message testing (including audience Marketing Research)
  • Lead creating and researching customer persona profiles leveraging media agency, external higher ed association(s), admissions Marketing Research, etc. to use to develop new programs, initiatives and marketing
  • Identify and share relevant benchmarking and best practice market intelligence
  • Recommend, hire, and manage necessary outside vendor(s) to develop and access primary research
  • Lead larger competitive analysis initiatives
  • Lead relationship with procurement to ensure optimal pricing with vendors and manage respective budgets
  • Work to create approaches that measure the impact of our communications efforts with the University’s strategic target audiences, including overall perception, resonance of key strategic content themes, efficacy of marketing efforts including paid advertising, and other ad hoc research efforts
  • Build data visualizations and reports using qualitative and quantitative data
  • Provide ongoing support to inform leadership decisions and priorities, such as: supporting larger or contracted research projects as appropriate; periodically assessing and reporting on relevant competitive data; and developing appropriate metrics dashboards

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Bachelor's Degree is required
  • Four years of related experience required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Eight years of experience preferred
  • STEM training a plus
  • Familiar with analysis software like SPSS, a plus

  • Prior experience using statistical analysis techniques
