The Distance Learning Support department at Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for the Content Strategist (full-time, 12 month) position. The Content Strategist will be responsible for proactively creating engaging and dynamic content, with particular emphasis on content targeted for recruitment and retention that effectively communicates the ODUOnline brand and messaging to all constituents. The Content Strategist is a hybrid position consisting of both content strategy and copywriting responsible for supporting the core goals of the organization with respect to enrollment management, outreach and growth by maximizing the impact of content. Content may include web or digital information, web pages, social media posts, multimedia, email, signage, posters, cards, newsletters, etc. Essentially anything that communicates on behalf of the organization can be classified as content. The Content Strategist works with the Creative Director and the creative production teams to analyze, plan, write, edit, manage and monitor content, along with anything else that impacts content, including delivery format, etc.

 Required Qualifications:   Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., fine arts, English, communications) and a minimum of two years’ experience content strategy, editorial, marketing information sciences or related field. Familiar with and capable of creating a formal content strategy document, copy brief, content audit, or copy deck. Experience managing projects and an ability to manage a plan and define a continuous publishing schedule. Experience with content marketing, including branding through content, targeted messaging, and social media strategy and management, understanding the channels our prospective and current student populations are using, nuances and context for each and how to maximize our resources to drive impact across digital channels. Outstanding web writing, editing and proofreading skills, with excellent attention to details. Demonstrated ability to understand an organization’s functions/goals and make good decisions in a variety of situations. An ability to make the best use of limited resources, efficiently and successfully. The ability to be flexible and to work independently and collaboratively on multiple projects. Ability to take direction and turn it into actionable, measurable, scalable project plans. Experience with print production, content management systems, databases, HTML, email marketing, social media management and adapting to emerging technology.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with everything from design to film to digital and sound preferred.
