Job Description Summary

The Digital Media and Marketing Manager works closely with key stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy to elevate the Law School’s public profile and to promote the school’s JD program, faculty, student and alumni accomplishments, and other programs and events to external audiences, with a focus on digital strategies. This position strategically develops targeted communications for external constituencies including prospective students, alumni, local and regional legal communities, the legal academy, and potential and established donors.

Responsibilities

Digital Content Development and Marketing Campaigns:
  • Oversight and maintenance, development, and editing of content on Fowler School of Law webpages, ensuring all pages have a consistent overall look and feel, aligned with branding guidelines.
  • Ensure content is updated with news and announcements within 24 hours.
  • Develop and maintain digital marketing content development schedules and timelines. Maintain weekly and monthly schedules to ensure key events and dates are covered. Meet all identified deadlines.
  • Write headlines, copy, summaries, and other content; ensure all content is free of typos and grammatical errors.
  • Develop communications on behalf of school leadership.
  • Collaborate with the University’s Strategic Marketing and Communication office, freelance writers, graphic designers, photographers, and videographers to carry out planned marketing strategies and campaigns and develop digital content.
  • Develop an electronic communications strategy and manage email campaigns to key constituencies. Implement email blasts to different audiences throughout the year.
  • Oversight of paid and organic digital marketing campaigns via Google AdWords, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and other platforms, in collaboration with the University’s Strategic Marketing and Communication office and outside vendors.
  • Develop and place digital and/or print ads with local and regional publications, such as bar associations, business journals, and other sites, in collaboration with the University’s Strategic Marketing and Communication office.
  • Efficiently utilize annual advertising budget.


Social Media Management:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy that measurably increases engagement and reach among prospective students, current students, alumni, and other constituencies and promotes Law School strengths and accomplishments, aligned with brand guidelines.
  • Manage all Law School social media accounts.
  • Produce engaging, high-performing social media posts daily.
  • Identify content, and write, edit, and format announcements, stories, and event coverage, including live tweeting and photographing of events.
  • Ensure content is uniquely suited to each platform.
  • Monitor and moderate online discussions on social media platforms. Respond appropriately to questions and comments posted to social media accounts
  • Boost social media content as sponsored ads to reach targeted or matched audiences, consistent with the Law School’s strategic marketing plan.
Design, Production, and Photographic Support:
  • Strategically manage the development of print materials, such as a Viewbook, flyers/announcements, mass mailings, and other publications.
  • Work with the University’s Strategic Marketing and Communication office, freelance graphic designers, mail houses, and others to produce and distribute mailings and collateral.
  • Plan, coordinate, and sometimes produce photographic, video, and graphic support to be used in digital, print, and social media content.
  • Ensure that the Law School develops and maintains a robust photo and video library.
  • Obtain and collect photographic releases.
  • Efficiently utilize annual budget for photographic support and print collateral.


Analytics and Assessment:
  • Establish digital marketing targets and ensure the Law School meets targets and measurably grows its digital presence.
  • Analyze engagement, interactions, and response rates across platforms, including (but not limited to) websites, social media, emails, paid advertising, and other media. Work with other University departments and external vendors to gather web analytics for assessing the success of marketing tactics.
  • Develop and assist in implementing an effective Search Engine Optimization strategy, incorporating existing SEO research.
  • Use data and analytics to produce monthly and quarterly performance reports and make recommendations for improvement.
Other Duties:
  • Identify media opportunities and coordinate with the University’s Public Relations office to engage with the media and various publications.
  • Attend marketing meetings at the Law School and with the Strategic Marketing and Communication staff.
  • Stay informed of and make recommendations for implementing new technologies, web strategies and designs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, marketing, business, public relations or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a primarily digital marketing role, including at least 2 years’ experience personally managing the social media accounts for a business, non-profit, or a similar professional organization.
  • Experience routinely gathering and analyzing social media and web analytics and using data to improve reach and engagement.
  • Experience with web/internet marketing and advertising.
  • Ability to provide guidance and make recommendations on social media platforms and marketing strategies to senior administration and collaborate with marketing team to meet Law School goals.
  • Proven ability to organize, plan, prioritize multiple projects, and complete them in a timely manner meeting all deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to learn and interpret University policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
  • Strong technical skills to learn enterprise system, software and tools.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy and maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, including impeccable proof-reading skills and the ability to produce clear, concise copy.
  • Ability to understand brand guidelines and apply them consistently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate well with diverse individuals.
  • Flexible and stress-tolerant; ability to accept and implement feedback.
Desired Qualifications
  • One to two years’ experience with web editing and design.
