Scope of Job:
We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley's diverse student body as a Lecturer I within The Department of Health and Human Performance (HHP) beginning in the 2022-2023 academic year. This is an in-person position of instruction with a home base campus (Edinburg).

Department/College Background
The Department of Health and Human Performance in the College of Health Professions at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is seeking candidates who have demonstrated record of success in teaching, and service that are commensurate with an appointment as a Lecturer to begin Fall 2022. The positions require teaching undergraduate courses in exercise science or kinesiology, serving as a field supervisor for practicums, serving as a student advisor, service on university, college, and departmental committees and taskforces, and performance of other duties assigned by the department chair.
Faculty will be required to teach in a variety of settings incorporating technology and student engaged pedagogies to maximize student success and able to conduct scholarship work in the field. Given that UTRGV is a distributed campus, faculty may be required to teach online or hybrid courses or teach at different locations. Service to the department, college, university, community and professional organizations is an integral part of the faculty member's responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:
A master’s degree in kinesiology, exercise science or related field from an accredited university.

Discipline Specific Required Qualifications:
A master’s degree in Kinesiology, exercise science or related field from an accredited university. Experience in teaching at the college level with demonstrated excellence in using varied teaching modalities and a service record in the professional field.

Preferred Qualification:
Experience in teaching at the college level is highly desirable with demonstrated excellence in teaching and service. Having K-12 teaching experience with physical education certification or certification in health, or experience in teaching physical activity, physiology or biomechanics courses is preferred.

Additional Information:
UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
