Assistant Director for Undergraduate Affairs

Job Summary

The Assistant Director for Undergraduate Affairs provides a leadership role in both external and internal relations for the School of Education. This position collaborates with admissions, marketing, recruitment, and academic and student affairs departments recommending, developing and implementing initiatives related to undergraduate enrollment and student success.

Essential Functions
  • Supervises the departmental program manager or academic advisor
  • Oversees all program specific event planning for the School of Education’s undergraduate programs not already covered by marketing and recruitment directors
  • In collaboration with marketing and recruitment directors, assists with undergraduate marketing, recruitment, and enrollment efforts
  • Provides content for recruitment materials and events and participates in recruitment events
  • Contacts incomplete and unconfirmed applicants
  • Works with Director of Recruitment to oversee communication regarding unfinished applications
  • Serves as a liaison between Program Directors and marketing to ensure that websites are up to date
  • Supports the Associate and Director of Student Services with undergraduate enrollment and retention initiatives to build enrollment and retain students
  • Coordinates student retention efforts through individual work and team collaboration with departments
  • Collaborates with marketing & recruitment to evaluate the effectiveness of initiatives and efforts
  • Creates and implements professional development/networking events for undergraduate student populations
  • Assist the Director of Student Services with designing undergraduate student success initiatives in addition to alumni support and outreach
  • Gathers data for program assessment for the department (CAEP, PAR, Title II) to support the Associate Director of Student Services
  • Manages programs and/or has an advising role within the School of Education and fills in for vacancies when needed
  • Participates in and supports special projects at the request of program directors, director and senior leadership related to institutional priorities or specific program needs
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7 Years of Experience
  • Ability to direct special projects and identify, analyze, and solve complex issues
  • Possess subject matter expertise including previous experience in supervising a staff and directing day to day operations
  • Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks.
  • Possess excellent written, oral, project management, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Possess strong customer service focus
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree in Education or Organizational Management and 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Previous experience in Higher Education
  • Prior experience managing staff including recruiting, retaining, counseling, and terminating staff; oversee employee timesheets, work time usage and staff meetings
  • Completion of a formal Supervisory Program preferred
