The Manager of Community Projects will help enrich people’s lives through community-directed projects at Phillips@THEARC. Phillips@THEARC is a satellite campus in Southeast DC that serves as an experiment station where we develop and execute ideas with our community to connect with the museum’s collection. This position will manage community programming and projects while collaborating with the Community Engagement team to promote strategic and synergistic programming across the museums two locations (21st St, Phillips@THEARC).

 

Essential Functions:  

Programming and Project Management: 

  • Manage the production of wellness kits, including collaborating on activity descriptions, purchasing artmaking supplies and personal protective gear, and coordinating kit assembly 
  • Manage day to day programming at Phillips@THEARC, including contractors, interns, and temporary detail employees
  • Manage summer camp program, including coordinating partnerships, collaborating on activity development, securing camp licensing, managing food and transportation, coordinating staff schedules, and working with contracted councilors.
  • Coordinate with Education and Community Engagement colleagues to bridge programming at 21st Street and at Phillips@THEARC
  • Work with the Community Engagement team on the strategic development of future programming at Phillips@THEARC
  • Work with the Director of Community Engagement to organize the Community Advisory Committee at THEARC.
  • Work with Director of Community Engagement and Marketing Department on communication and promotion for Phillips@THEARC programming.
  • Works with Director of Community Engagement to manage THEARC Exhibitions, schedule, projects, and programs

 

Administrative Duties:  

  • Contribute to EdCE reports, including statistics/data, to various departments and external stakeholders
  • Supports EdCE financial processes including co-developing the annual budget, maintaining budget spreadsheets, and reconciling monthly credit card statements for projects listed under job description
  • Maintain Phillips@THEARC email list-serv and send newsletters updating the community on upcoming projects.

 

Programming Support:  

  • Work directly with the Director of Community Engagement to assist with community engagement initiatives and partnerships 
  • Work with Head of Public Programs to coordinate partnerships with artists and artists’ studios for adult workshops at THEARC
  • Maintain consistent weekly and monthly programming with support from the Head of Experiential Learning and Teaching Artists
  • Work with team to ensure DEAI principles are a part of the development, planning, and implementation of all Community Engagement programs and partnerships.
  • Provides other duties as assigned

 

 Position Requirements & Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree: art history and museum background preferred
  • Excellent organizational ability and attention to detail
  • Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines, and handle numerous assignments concurrently
  • Administrative experience with excellent office skills, including data entry, database/spreadsheets
  • Experience with digital tools and web-based software
  • Very flexible; highly effective team member and collaborator with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain systems
  • Can work evenings and weekend hours
