The School of Veterinary Medicine at Rowan University is seeking at Part-Time Director of Affiliated Clinical Partners and Professional Career Preparation to develop and coordinate relationships with affiliate hospitals/partnering organizations in keeping with the values and goals of the School of Veterinary Medicine.

The successful candidate will advance the academic mission of the School through their contributions to clinical teaching commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion requisite for future veterinarians and leaders who will positively impact the health of clients, patients and professional colleagues. The ideal candidate will be visionary and entrepreneurial as they work to create a structure for clinical affiliations and professional preparation of future veterinarians.

The person in this position will lead early efforts to establish an academic counseling and career advisement program that supports student wellness and professional career preparation and provide for clinical faculty development to ensure a holistic and humanistic culture of excellence in animal healthcare. Within the career advancement realm, it is anticipated that the selected candidate in this inaugural role, assists students in the preparation of a professional CV/resume and review and provide suggestions for improvement applying best practices for developmental teaching and learning goals and outcomes.

The selected candidate serves on the RUSVM Advisory Council and frequently interacts with other University divisions and departments including the Division of Student Success, Student Success Leadership Team, Career Advancement, and University Advising Center; contributing to the vision and strategic direction of RUSVM clinical education, academic advisement, and career preparation.

The position will be in the Clinical Associate Professor track, which support faculty members whose responsibilities include the traditional triad of research, clinical service, and teaching. The successful candidate will be appropriately apportioned to these academic areas depending upon their strengths.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Develop a clear vision and implementation strategy for an academic advisement and career counseling framework for the School while liaising with RUSVM administrators and clinical partners.
  • Demonstrates a clear commitment to clinical veterinary education as evidenced by leadership in mentoring students and providing guidance in career planning.
  • Work with students at all phases that lead to the completion of their DVM, including: academic counseling, student advising, professional development and wellness; ensure students receive the support and guidance needed to reach their full potential as veterinary professionals.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive program for student wellbeing, dispositions, and resiliency.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for faculty, academic advisors, and staff.
  • Responsible for the design, development, and delivery of activities and instruction for faculty to ensure the maximum impact on student outcomes.
  • Collaborate with RUSVM administrators and campus partners to produce reports for internal and external constituents relating to clinical education and career advancement.
  • Form and maintain clinical affiliation agreements; ensure continued adherence to guidelines and requirements.
  • Develop and identify new programs to educate students to be able to thrive in challenging and meaningful veterinary career; including clinical skills and simulation training.
  • Prepare grants and investigate other development activities to support and expand student support offerings.
  • Develop and implement academic enrichment activities and workshops to support a diverse and inclusive student population.
  • Work closely with faculty, staff, and a wide range of university departments to identify opportunities for collaboration which will benefit students.
  • Conduct research to assess and improve student learning and evaluate student-learning environmental interaction.
  • Form and maintain strategic partnerships with program directors and representatives from programs/affiliated partners within and outside of the RUSCM.
  • Collaborate with University and clinical partners on developing assessment measures for career-related activities and events.
  • Collaborate with office and campus partners and produce reports for internal and external constituents relating to clinical education and information on career services.
  • Arrange workshops, select guest speakers, and implementation of events promoting veterinary education, including career fairs, case study competitions, and guided discussions and lectures.
  • Maintain a database of clinical affiliation and partnership agreements.
  • Prepare reports on faculty development participation and student academic and career performance for academic departments and for accreditation.
QUALIFICATIONS for the position includes the following: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • DVM or equivalent
  • Minimum of three (5+) years of experience in veterinary practice, clinical experience
  • Currently licensed or eligible for licensure in NJ
  • Demonstrated success in implementing clinical learning and assessment and evaluation initiatives from development to implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with multiple constituencies (Chairs, Deans, Students, Clinical Partners etc.) in a fast-paced and evolving environment
  • Understanding of pertinent clinical learning guidelines, expectations, and standards
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to and lead change with a clear understanding of curricular processes
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and make sound judgments
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including interpersonal, organizational, customer services, and analytical skills
  • Valid NJ Driver’s License




Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
