Job Description: Responsible for planning and teaching American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED, and American Red Cross Basic Life Support base-level courses, along with planning and conducting employee training, hiring, and audits.

Location: Cary Street Gym & MCV Student Larrick Center

Starting Pay Rate:$16/hour

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Be familiar with and teach American Red Cross Base-Level Certification Courses in the instructor led and blended learning format
• Effectively use course materials and resources, including course presentations, curriculum manuals, course outlines, and the American Red Cross Learning Center
• Adapt your teaching approaches to the age, experience and ability of participants so they can meet course objectives
  
  
• Ensure the health and safety of the participants by making sure all teaching and practice areas are free of hazards and all materials and equipment are safe
• Communicate regularly with participants to ensure they are aware of progress
• Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies in accordance with facility emergency action plans
• Complete records and reports in a timely manner
• Assist in audits, evaluation, and hiring of RecWell staff
• Participate in trainings and other meetings that are required
• Create and utilize lesson plans for trainings and meetings
• Provide positive and constructive feedback to participants
• Develop appropriate participant/instructor relationship
• Be enthusiastic and have fun
• Additional duties as assigned by the Aquatics & Safety Coordinator

Required Certification(s):

• Must have one of the following instructor-level certifications:

• American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer Instructor

• American Red Cross Basic Life Support Instructor

• American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor
  
  

• Must have at least one of the following base-level:
• American Red Cross Basic Life Support
• American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer
• American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED
• American Red Cross Lifeguard

Prefered Certification (must obtain within 6 months of hire):

• American Red Cross Basic Life Support base-level
• American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer base-level
• American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED base-level
• American Red Cross Basic Life Support Instructor
• American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor
• American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer Instructor
