REDCAP APPLICATION MANAGER


Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our informatics team in furthering our research and outreach activities. The University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) is embarking on an exciting mission of establishing state of the art computational, data and informatics infrastructure for supporting cutting edge biomedical research and innovation to care.

We are seeking a REDCap Application Manager to join our Informatics team and lead a team of application support, web developers, software engineers, and ontologist. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Research Computing in the SMPH, the incumbent will work independently and with other members of REDCap Team to deliver high quality, innovative data collection and management for a variety of research, quality and administrative projects.

Responsibilities:

Provides and develops operational oversight of information technology (IT) function(s), program(s), or service(s)to support organizational and employee technology needs.
  • 20% Develops, plans, and directs staff implementation of information technology
  • 15% Evaluates existing strategy and makes recommendations to information technology leadership for program enhancement
  • 15% Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised information technology operational policies and procedures
  • 20% Serves as the subject matter expert to unit leadership regarding information technology operations and functions
  • 10% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
  • 10% Develops a strategy for cost recovery and ensures timely billing for services provided
  • 10% Ensures high quality data collection through the effective use of data standards, vocabularies and data quality checks

Education:

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree

Qualifications:

Required:
- Minimum of two years building a variety of projects, from simple to complex, in REDCap
- Experience with clinical research
- Minimum of three years supervising employees who support applications, develop applications or perform system administration

Preferred:
- Experience with standardized vocabularies, common data elements and common data models
- Experience with data safety monitoring boards, data monitoring committees or working closely with statisticians
- Knowledge of databases and SQL
- Experience with programming tools often used in research (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS, Python)
- Knowledge of 21 CFR Part 11 Compliance

Strong people and communication skills are required. The ideal candidate is curious, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
