Director of Career Readiness and Employer Relations

The University of Montana’s College of Business (COB) invites applicants for the position of Director of Career Readiness and Employer Relations . The fundamental purpose of this position is to connect graduates with quality jobs by creating long-term relationship building and networking opportunities for COB within the business community. The Director of Career Readiness and Employer Relations has four major job functions: focus and enhance COB career advancement efforts by spearheading communication between the COB and businesses throughout the country and the world; identify businesses to recruit at UM and actively pursue long-term relationships with these businesses; engage and motivate alumni involvement with COB in the context of career advancement; and provide career coaching, including resume assistance, and network connections to COB students. This position is a full-time Letter of Appointment, 12-month position, a member of the Gianchetta Student Success Center and reports to the Director of Gianchetta Student Success Center.

Responsibilities include:
  • Manage and expand pipeline of recruiters and businesses to initiate and maintain recruiting relationships with COB
  • Point person to build relationships and sustain proactive communication with companies recruiting COB graduates
  • Extensive time in the field meeting recruiters
  • Provide career coaching and resume services to COB students
  • Assist COB students in their job search by making introductions and connections with employers
  • Maintain and enhance professional/career development program, Career Trailhead, required by all COB students
  • Attend and participate in faculty/administration meetings as needed to maintain knowledge of COB graduate skills and characteristics and to keep faculty and administration up to date regarding the interests and needs of recruiters
  • Supervise Career Events and Recruitment Manager

Position Details
  • Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, Letter of Appointment and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
  • Salary for this position is $52,000 - $56,000 per year commensurate with qualifications.

  • Baccalaureate degree
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to initiate and maintain a growing network of contacts
  • Ability to work within a team representing multiple related organizations
  • Ability to negotiate the needs of multiple stakeholders and align with a fundamental mission: to advance the COB mission while connecting COB graduates with quality work opportunities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree
  • Development experience and/or recruiting experience
  • Career coaching/counseling experience
  • Resume certification/experience
