Department Summary
University Health Services (UHS) is a unit within the Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management and is a nationally accredited (AAAHC) outpatient clinic providing primary care to students at the University of Oregon. All staff are required to uphold the values of the UHS.
This position works in support of the University Health Services mission and vision and is consistent with UO policy. Some aspects of this position may be completed in collaboration with other University departments.
Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to ensure efficient, effective day-to-day function of UHS Medical Services Primary and Acute Care clinical operations. This position will collaborate with the Medical Director to provide high-level leadership for, and management of, these clinical areas.
This position reports to the Medical Director and works in close collaboration with medical staff, clinical staff, patient services representatives, administrative support, and managers of ancillary services to create and maintain effective, efficient clinical operations within Medical Services. This position is responsible for supervising the certified medical assistants within primary/acute care and ensuring they practice within and to their scope of certification.
Minimum Requirements - Current certification from a national certifying body for
medical assistant or nursing assistant (e.g. American Medical
Technologists, American Association of Medical Assistants, National
Center for Competency Testing), or any current higher medical
degree/certification (e.g. LVN, LPN, RN, NP, PA, MD, DO), or the
ability to obtain by first day of employment
- Three years' experience in direct patient care
- Three years' experience developing and managing clinical
systems or processes
- Demonstrated experience in taking initiative and responsibility
to increase efficiencies with patient care, clinic flow, or another
healthcare metric
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR certification, or
the ability to obtain by first day of employment
Special Qualifications: - Position requires successful completion of a criminal
background check and routine screening of Medicaid and Medicare
Exclusion Lists. Employee loses eligibility for employment if on
the List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) and/or System
of Award Management (SAM).
- Must be in compliance with UHS policies regarding tuberculosis
screening, measles and mumps (MMR), seasonal flu, hepatitis B, and
other immunization requirements.

Preferred Qualifications - Three years' experience in a managerial/supervisory
position
- Experience working within a unionized environment
- Demonstrated leadership with Health Information Technology
systems (ex: EHR super-user)
