The Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University (GW) welcomes applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Epidemiology (DEPI). The School is CEPH-accredited with graduate-level research and education programs spanning seven departments: Epidemiology; Biostatistics and Bioinformatics; Environmental and Occupational Health; Exercise and Nutrition Sciences; Global Health; Health Policy and Management; and Prevention and Community Health.

About the Department of Epidemiology: This position represents an uncommon opportunity to harness remarkable strengths across an incredibly broad portfolio of disciplines.  The Department occupies a unique position in academic public health education.  Given its location in Washington, D.C. and this national moment of great focus on healthcare, public health, and the policies behind them, the Department is in the right place at the right time.  Faculty have oriented the Department to address the pressing health policy issues nationally. The Department’s combination of research faculty and tenured/tenure-track faculty have been remarkably successful contributing to the scholarship, policy, and practice in the field.  They work with a cohesive, shared sense of mission and entrepreneurialism.  The Department offers multiple degree programs, including MPH, MS, and PhD. The successful candidate will build on the Department’s existing excellence, effectively manage its organizational structure and research and academic operations, mentor junior faculty and students, extend its interdisciplinary reach, and leverage the resources of the University.  The School seeks a Chair who is committed to advancing and leading the mission of the faculty, staff, and students in scholarship, policy, and education through service and scholarship.

Qualifications:  The Chair must be tenure-eligible at the rank of Professor with a track record of successful leadership and management experience.  The Chair must also possess national or international prominence for their scholarship within the many epidemiology disciplines.

To Apply:  Applications should be sent via email to Josh.Ward@KornFerry.com and must include 1) a full CV and 2) a letter of interest that addresses the applicant’s motivation to apply, highlights any experiences that align with the responsibilities and requirements described above, and details the applicant’s interest in the Department of Epidemiology at GW.  Review of applications will begin on June 10, 2022 and will continue until the position is filled. Employment offers are contingent on the satisfactory outcome of a standard background screening.  Send application materials (CV and cover letter), nominations, and inquiries to the email address below.  For priority consideration, please apply by June 10, 2022.
