Position Summary:

 The University of Wisconsin-Platteville seeks a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor-Finance within the School of Business. The position is physically located on the Platteville campus (i.e. non-remote) and will primarily teach introductory and advanced undergraduate finance courses. Some introductory management courses may also be assigned. The position entails a teaching load of four classes per semester that may include a combination of on-campus courses and online courses.

The successful candidate will be expected to meet traditional requirements of excellence in teaching, active scholarly and professional work, and service to the university and community. 

The desired start date is August 2022. Compensation is $70,000 - $80,000 commensurate with experience.  Those with professional experience in corporate finance, investment, or banking are encouraged to apply.  

Responsibilities:

Teaching

  1. Teach four courses per semester in the fall and spring terms. Potential courses include:
  2. Corporate Finance
  3. International Finance
  4. Treasury Management
  5. Various general management and leadership courses as needed.
  6. Ability to teach introductory microeconomics or introductory accounting is a plus.
  • Courses taught may include a combination of undergraduate and graduate courses as well as across multiple modalities such as in-person, online, or hybrid.
  • Provide advising to students both within and outside of the classroom regarding their future careers in finance.
  • Scholarly & Professional Activity

    1. Participate in the creation and distribution of scholarly work in alignment with the Boyer Model of Scholarship.
    2. Engage and share expertise with professional associations and organizations.

    Service

    1. Engage in service to the university and the business school through formal and ad hoc committees.

    What You’ll Need to Succeed:

    1. One of the following educational backgrounds must be met:
    2. Masters degree in business with a professional credential related to finance, e.g. CFP, CFA, CTP, etc.
    3. Masters degree in finance.
    4. Doctorate degree in business, finance, accounting, or closely related field with 15 graduate credits in finance (substantial progress toward doctorate acceptable for hire but doctorate required to grant tenure).
  • Evidence of past contributions to scholarly or professional knowledge is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster an environment that respects and builds upon individual differences, particularly those of historically marginalized groups.
