General Summary: The program coordinator assists the dean for English as an Academic Language (EAL) courses.

Job Specifications:
**POSTING IS AVAILABLE TO ALL APPLICANTS, HOWEVER PER AFT CONTRACT ARTICLE XXVI COMPENSATION AND FRINGE BENEFITS C. 2, INTERNAL AFT WILL HAVE PRIORITY FOR NON-TEACHING ASSIGNMENTS**

Job Duties:
1. Serve as an EAL liaison for the English discipline and other disciplines, utilizing campus forums and department chairs' meetings to maintain regular communication about best practices that support EAL students and the transition into college level English writing courses and other certificate and degree programs.

2. Confer with the Department Heads and appropriate faculty at all sites where the programs are offered about the sequence for scheduling classes.

3. Coordinate among EAL Discipline program faculty assessment and follow-up activities to meet Middle States requirements in this area.

4. Coordinate among EAL Discipline faculty the four-year program review.

5. Review assessment results, facilitate discussion among discipline faculty, and assist with implementing resulting recommendations

6. Collaborate with community literacy organizations, such as, the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council (GPLC) and the Allegheny Intermediate Unit (AIU) to develop and maintain a pipeline for bridge programs as well as recruitment for potential students.

7. Advocate for and consult on behalf of International students in their writing classes.

8. Interview and appropriately place all prospective students in to EAL or college-level courses.

9. Activity lead and participate in the development of or changes to EAL placement procedures.

10. Provide professional development bi-annually for faculty interested in best practices for EAL students.

11. Participate in meetings concerning international student recruitment.

12. Provide as needed training to advisers at each campus assigning students to credit and noncredit courses.

13. Participate in the International student orientation to communicate program/institutional expectations before the fall semester commences.

14. If appropriate, respond, in consultation with the Dean, to requests from external agencies related to offering courses in the discipline off-campus.

15. Hold Department meeting with faculty once in Fall and once in Spring semester.

16. Prepare a semester report and submit it to the Dean prior to the end of each semester after final grades are submitted along with the activities log.

17. Other related duties as required.
