Job Description:

Support the Office of Recreational Services mission by providing a safe, fun inclusive group fitness atmosphere for all participants.
  • Safely instruct an effective, creative group fitness class for diverse populations. Ensure client safety at all times, providing modifications for all fitness levels and abilities.
  • Represent the Office of Recreational Services via quality guest experience to all patrons in class and to all Office of Recreational Services guests.
  • Enforce all building and program policies and procedures as it pertains to the Fitness and Wellness areas.
  • Respond to emergencies in strict accordance to the Office of Recreational Services Emergency Action Plan.
  • Prepare fitness class program/choreography before your class shift. Arrive at least 15 minutes early to prepare the studio space for your class and to greet participants.
  • Purchase choreography/continuing education credits to maintain certification.
  • Check email daily and communicate effectively with supervisor through phone, email, text, or in person.
  • Contact RocketEX staff to acquire substitutes for any shifts conflicting with the personal schedule.
  • Train (team teach) and mentor new employees.
  • Attend and participate in all training and meetings within employee groups and department-wide, including Leadership and Training Week: August 21-26, 2022
  • Other duties as assigned by the Office of Recreational Services.
Minimum Qualifications:

• Personnel information must meet The University of Toledo employment qualifications
• Must have and maintain current American Red Cross Professional Rescuer lever or BLS CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
• Must possess a passion for fitness, a mature attitude and willingness to learn
• Must possess current nationally-accredited primary group fitness certification or format specific certification (i.e. Zumba, Spinning, Yoga, Pilates, Turbokick, WERQ, Cize, etc.)
• Ability to work independently
• Applicants must be motivated to help others to achieve their fitness goals
• Demonstrated skill in quality guest service, communication and organizational and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications:
