Ohio University’s Department of African American Studies is seeking a Visiting Professor to teach courses in African American Studies for the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters. The teaching load is five courses per year, including Introduction to African American Studies as well as other courses requiring historical content, such as History of Injustice in the U.S. and African American History since 1876. The selected candidate is expected to hold office hours. The instructor will be responsible for effectively preparing, teaching, grading, and assessing student learning, and collaborating with the Chair of the Department to improve the student learning experience. Salary is competitive. Interviews will be conducted via Zoom in June and early July.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates should have at least a Master’s degree in African American Studies or related discipline, some experience teaching undergraduate students, excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, and the ability to navigate educational management systems such as Blackboard and the use of video conferencing platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to Ph.D. or ABD candidates with experience teaching a variety of African American Studies courses, specifically experience teaching Introduction to African American Studies and African American History content courses.
