Job Description:

Perform a variety of specialized duties such as special event setups/breakdowns, moving furniture, cleaning tile floors and carpeted areas as well as fill in for custodians who may be out. Complete any task required to provide a comprehensive recycling program such as collecting, sorting, baling, etc. Empty refuse containers, pick up and remove debris and trash, place in designated area or receptacle. Clean and sanitize lavatories, toilets, showers, restrooms, basins and similar items; replenish and replace tissues, towels, soap and other items.

Essential Functions:
  • Maintain the overall cleanliness of the College.
  • To perform special projects, events and other assignments as required along with various custodial duties as in assigned areas following established practices and procedures.
  • Assigned area will be maintained in a safe and habitable condition to achieve the standards of Building Services.
  • Detect and report defective or unsafe equipment, Building Services repairs, individual employee safety and safety issues that may concern the Holy Cross community. Report damage and safety violations immediately so that corrective action may be taken.
  • All safety rules and practices are observed and followed.
  • To insure the proper handling of all Building Services key/key rings. All areas will be safe and secure at all times. All lost or misplaced keys should be reported to the Supervisor immediately so proper safety measures can be taken.
  • Develop and maintain good working relations with co-workers, students, visitors and other college personnel. No more than three valid complaints concerning poor working relations.
  • Occasional flexible work hours will be required for emergencies, support of Special Events, support of Conference Services events and to complete any necessary work requests.
  • All emergencies will be properly staffed to insure the prevention of excess damage to property or to quality of life.
  • Support of all Special Events, Conferences and/or the completion of necessary work requests in order to insure their success.
  • Upon request of the Executive Housekeeper or Supervisor, flexible work hours will be responded to by individual. If the individual can not respond to the request, it is their responsibility to find a replacement or they must work the event.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 60 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs. with assistance is required.


Open Full-time Shifts:
  • Monday-Friday: Evening/Nights - 3:30PM-12:00AM. This position is 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year and is considered non-exempt by federal wage and hour law. #1828
  • Tuesday - Saturday: Evening/Nights - 3:30 pm - 12:00 am. Saturday 3:30pm - 11:00 pm. This position is 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year and is considered non-exempt by federal wage and hour law. #1830



Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • Two years of experience as a building attendant or custodial worker. Two years-experience using floor machine such as auto-scrubbers, buffers, burnishes, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of housekeeping tools and equipment required
