Job Summary:
This is a temporary, one year position that ends on June 30, 2023.

The Health Promotions Coordinator is an integral part of the daily operation of the Student Life office, as well as the Division of Student Life. Under the supervision of the Associate Dean of Student Success and Wellbeing, the Coordinator will organize and implement health and wellbeing education and prevention programming for students.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

Coordinates health and wellbeing programming for students with campus partners (e.g., alcohol and other drug education, mental health, physical health, nutrition, sexual health, social and spiritual wellbeing).

Collaborates with the Earle Student Health Center, Counseling Center, Spiritual Life, Campus Recreation, Health Sciences, Mentoring & Advising (Pathways), Student Life, Housing & Residence Life, and other faculty and staff/administration in various projects.

Co-advises PHOKUS (Promoting Healthy Options through Knowledge, Understanding, and Service), a student organization of peer educators who advocate for healthy living. Administers the campus wide Health Fair.

Serves on the Student Health and Wellbeing Committee that is chaired by the Associate Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students.

Serves on the Sexual Harassment and Rape Prevention (SHARP) Committee.

Researches best practices for health and wellbeing education, prevention and promotion.

Coordinates health promotion/wellbeing media (e.g., social media, website).

Assists departments with researching and developing relevant content for websites.

Facilitates wellbeing-related evaluation and assessment, including student focus groups. Assists with the prioritization and implementation of the Student Health and Wellbeing Strategic Plan.

Serves on University committees as assigned.

Completes performance review process with supervisor and employees to understand job performance expectations and how they fit into the department and University goals.

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor in support of the goals and objectives of the Division of Student Life, and the University. Relationships:

Daily contact with members of own work unit, immediate supervisor, students, and student workers to plan, coordinate, problem solve, present information related to mutual goals.

Frequent contact with other departments to plan, coordinate, problem solve, present information related to mutual goals.

Routinely handles confidential information.

Responsibility for Final Decisions:

Reviews work to ensure compliance with procedures and deadlines.

Tasks involve multiple procedures with interrelated processes or steps. Work involves choosing the appropriate option or procedure to follow and applying established rules and procedures.

Errors may be detected within the department or section in which they occur, but may affect the work of others within the unit to trace errors and make corrections.

Reports To: Associate Dean of Student Success and Wellbeing

Work is performed independently on routine work, non-routine issues or questions are referred to the supervisor.

Education/Skill Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in public health, health sciences, or closely related field required.

Knowledge of wellness concepts, health education and behavior change principles, health issues relevant to college students and young adult populations preferred.

Must have excellent organizational skills and strong communication skills.

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.

Ability to interact with a diverse population and maintain a positive attitude.

Work is performed under usual office conditions.

Some evening and weekend hours required.
