The successful candidate for this faculty position in the Department of Pastoral Ministries will assume the full responsibilities of a tenure-track teaching professional at the DTS Dallas campus. In accordance with the mission of the Seminary and the PM department, this individual will seek to prepare biblically-centered pastors and other Christian leaders for ministry who focus on the exposition of the Word of God and are characterized by vision for a spiritually lost world, the leadership of God’s church, and a shepherd’s heart for ministry. Faculty members support the educational process by advising students, serving on committees, addressing projects as assigned, and by assisting at strategic events.
Academic Responsibilities (reporting to the Chairman of the Pastoral Ministries Department)
- Teach a full-time load (16-20 credit hours per academic year)
- Teach courses such as homiletics, spiritual life, and pastoral
theology according to
departmental criteria in English and/or Spanish. - Travel to extension sites as assigned to complete teaching responsibilities
- Make progress toward tenure and promotions as indicated in the Faculty Handbook
- Attend Chapel programs, the annual Faculty Workshop (mid-August) and Commencement (mid-May)
- Represent the Department and the Seminary in research and publication
- Represent the Department and the Seminary at churches and conferences
Academic Administrative Responsibilities
- Attend weekly departmental meetings and faculty meetings
- Maintain office hours and be available for student mentoring and advising as assigned
- Participate in student orientation, student recruitment, and other events
- Serve on faculty committees as assigned.
- Oversee European cohort for distance education as needed
Qualifications—The ideal candidate will have:
- completed a Ph.D. in biblical/theological studies
- one graduate degree from Dallas Theological Seminary
- full agreement with and willingness to sign the DTS Doctrinal Statement annually and live by the lifestyle standards stated in the Faculty Handbook (mandatory)
- proven experience in pastoral ministry
- significant pastoral ministry and theological education experience
- demonstrated ability to teach in higher theological education
- ability to work as a member of a team of colleagues
- ability to communicate fluently in both English and Spanish (written and oral)
- significant European ministry experience
