Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder Children's Center is looking for an Infant Program Supervisor ! As our Infant Program Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing a nurturing and safe environment for a diverse population of children and families. Every day you will work directly with children ages 6 weeks through 18 months and ensure coverage and staffing of the infant program, assig and review quality of work of others, write lesson plans, implement activities to meet individual needs, lead other staff, and advise parents when discussing behavior and development. The Infant Program Supervisor may also support with the supervision of classroom staff.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Professionalism & Classroom Quality
  • Plan and implement an appropriate curriculum with other teachers by using available resources, crafting activities, meeting individual children’s needs, and maintaining classroom areas.
  • Follow all NAEYC, ITERS, ECERS, Colorado Shines and licensing guidelines.
Administrative/Supervision
  • Directly lead and train Early Childhood Educator (ECE) I and provide mentorship as needed for students, assistants and volunteers.
  • May also be responsible for directly supervising the ECE I. Supervise and interact with children by planning and implementing age-appropriate activities.
  • Use appropriate Guidance Techniques.
  • Keep clear, comprehensive, and accurate records, (Social Service, Sign in sheets, Children’s records, all other paperwork).
Communication/Parent Contact
  • Maintain channels of communication with instructing teams and office.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all communication.
  • Complete written reports as necessary including notes, accident reports, etc.
  • Provide information to parents about their child by discussion at arrival and departure time, written communications, and/or phone calls.
  • Provide positive customer service and information, handle difficult situations with finesse.
  • Help parents to understand behavior and development.
Health & Safety
  • Ensure safety of children by supervising indoor and outdoor equipment, communicating concerns to the director.
  • Maintain health standards following procedures for food preparation, diapering, medication administration, etc.
  • Remain current on certifications including CPR, First Aid, UP, Child Abuse, and Medication Administration.
Professional Development
  • Assure continual professional growth by attending staff in-services, workshops, and conferences.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling, working with different levels of staff, and handling a variety of situations.
What You Should Know
  • This is a full-time, in person position.
  • This position has a flexible start time of 7:30-8:30 am, to be determined with the Hiring Manager.
  • All University of Colorado Boulder employees are required to follow the campus COVID-19 vaccine requirement .

What We Can Offer
  • The salary range is $38,480- $42,640 annually, or $18.50-$20.50 an hour.
  • This position is eligible for a $1,000 signing bonus.

What We Require
  • The Infant Program Supervisor must have one year of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position and meet at least one (1) of the following qualifications:
    • A Registered Nurse, licensed to practice in Colorado, with a minimum of three (3) months (455 hours) of verifiable experience in the care and supervision of infants who are not related to the individual; or,
    • A Licensed Practical Nurse, licensed to practice in Colorado, a minimum of nine (9) months (1,365 hours) of verifiable experience in the care and supervision of infants who are not related to the individual; or,
    • An adult who holds a certificate in infant and toddler care from an accredited college or university with completion of a minimum of thirty (30) semester credit hours in the development and care of infants and toddlers in a group setting; or,
    • An adult who is currently certified as a child development associate (CDA) in: Center-Based, Preschool; Center-Based, Infant-Toddler; or Family Child Care; and has completed the Infant/Toddler Theory and Practice or has been issued the Expanding Quality in Infant and Toddler Care Training certificate of completion; or,
    • An adult who holds a current Early Childhood Professional Credential Level II or higher in Version 3.0, as determined by the Department, has a minimum of nine (9) months (1,365 hours) of verifiable experience in the care and supervision of infants and/or toddlers, and: (a) Has completed one (1) three (3) semester credit hour course in Infant/Toddler Development; or, (b) Has completed the Department-approved Expanding Quality in Infant and Toddler Care training course.
    • An adult who: (a) Is at least nineteen (19) years of age; (b) Is qualified as an Early Childhood Teacher (Section 7.702.45, A); (c) Has a minimum of nine (9) months (1,365 hours) of verifiable experience in the group care of infants or toddlers; and, (d) Has completed at least two (2) three (3)-semester credit hour courses from an accredited college or university on the development and care of infants and toddlers in a group setting, one (1) of which must be: (i) Infant/Toddler Development; or, (ii) The Department-approved Expanding Quality in Infant and Toddler Care training course; or,
    • An adult who: (a) Is at least nineteen (19) years of age; (b) Is qualified as an Early Childhood Teacher (Section 7.702.45, A); (c) Has a minimum of one (1) year and nine (9) months (3,185 hours) of verifiable experience in the group care and supervision of infants or toddlers; and, (d) Will complete, within the first six (6) months of employment, two (2) three (3)-semester credit hour courses from an accredited college or university, one (1) of which must be: (i) Infant/Toddler Development; or, (ii) The Department-approved Expanding Quality in Infant and Toddler Care training course.
  • Additional Requirements
    • Staff members must be current for all immunizations routinely recommended for adults by their health care provider and CU.
    • All staff members must submit to the center a medical statement, signed and dated by a physician or other health care provider, verifying that they are in good mental, physical, and emotional health appropriate for the position for which they have been hired. This statement must be dated no more than six (6) months prior to employment or within thirty (30) calendar days after the first date of employment.
    • Staff members must follow all required background check requirements as required in the General Rules for Child Care Facilities.

  • Ability to provide a high quality environment furthering a diverse population of children ages 6 weeks through kindergarten.
  • Proven skills to develop, supervise, plan and instruct a developmentally appropriate curriculum; train and evaluate assistant teachers and university student employees.
  • Ability to implement family programs while modeling appropriate language and behaviors.
  • Growth mindset, team mentality and willingness to collaborate and be flexible to meet the changing needs of the classroom and center.
What We Would Like You To Have
  • Three years experience working in a licensed early childhood center with infants and/or toddlers.
  • Previous supervision or mentorship experience.
