Shepherd University is a state-supported institution within the
West Virginia system of higher education. From its beginnings 150
years ago, the University has evolved into a comprehensive center
of higher learning, offering baccalaureate and graduate degrees in
a wide range of fields, encompassing the liberal arts, business
administration, teacher education, the social and natural sciences,
and other career-oriented areas. The university invites
applications for the position of a full-time non-tenure-track
lecturer of Health Promotion/Exercise Science beginning August
2022. Responsibilities include teaching Health Promotion and
Exercise Science courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels,
university service, and advising. Courses may be face-to-face,
hybrid, or online. Evening teaching may be required.
The typical teaching load for the HPEX program is four
courses per semester and will include but not be limited to
kinesiology, exercise physiology, and other courses required by the
program.
Additional job responsibilities include advising Health Promotion /
Exercise Science majors and participation in expanding the vision
and growth of the department. The successful candidate will have
the ability to integrate practical ’real-world experience into the
classroom setting, and have a strong commitment to service and
leadership. The selected candidate will be expected to prioritize
student success and learning, teach diverse populations, and work
collaboratively and collegially with faculty while maintaining
active involvement in the school and college.
