West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine seek Gastroenterologists qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank.
Successful candidates will be expected to practice in Morgantown and/or Fairmont, WV and may also be expected to perform services at several satellite clinical sites in the state of West Virginia and additional sites to be determined based on expansion and growth of our services and sites.
Our GI and Hepatology service line of professionals offer a complete range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, treats a medically diverse population, and has exposure to clinically challenging cases. We have a new and expanding endoscopy center including state-of-the-art suites for advanced procedures and ERCPs, as well as close access to adjacent specialty clinics.
Tremendous institutional support for academic pursuits particularly pertaining to chronic viral hepatitis and inflammatory bowel disease is available. We offer treatment to those in West Virginia as well as patients from five border states.
There is a culture of professionalism and cooperation within the Department of Medicine. The growing Section of Digestive Diseases offers opportunities to build and design programs within a large referral academic center.
In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, it is expected that candidates sustain an outstanding, extramurally supported research program.
Qualifications: applicants must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license. Candidates must have completed an accredited internal medicine residency program and gastroenterology fellowship at the time of appointment. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, a demonstrated track-record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and publications in high-impact journals are required. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
