POSITION SUMMARY:
Rogers State University is accepting applications for the
Department Head of Technology & Justice Studies. This position
is responsible for the overall development, operation, and
management of the department. This is a dual role of faculty member
and department administrator.
PRIMARY DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assume all professional responsibilities of a full-time faculty member.
- Instruct six semester hours per semester.
- Participate in scholarly activities, individually or collaboratively, which advance the state of knowledge or performance level of the discipline of technology.
- Coordinate and provide academic advisement to prospective and current students.
- Participate in institutional service activities.
- Prepare and submit the department budget to the Dean, and administer the budget according to the policies and procedures approved by the Board of Regents.
- Follow the approved hiring procedures for the employment of university faculty and staff.
- Conduct faculty evaluations and recommend faculty retention, promotion, and tenure as appropriate.
- Build and administer fall, spring, and summer course schedules and assign faculty for course instruction.
- Manage equipment acquisition and inventory control in accordance with university procedures.
- Coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of new programs and courses.
- Facilitate faculty and staff training and participation in distance learning.
- Coordinate the annual departmental assessment activities including preparation of the annual reporting document.
- Solve problems and resolve conflicts between students and faculty.
- Encourage the members of the department to improve teaching methods, work skills, processes, and procedures to establish a continuous improvement in the learning environment within the department.
- With the members of the department, develop measurable criteria to recommend to the dean continuation, expansion, or dissolution of programs within the department.
- Coordinate the utilization and maintenance of assigned facilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or related Technology field.
- Two years of teaching experience in a university setting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Doctorate in a Computer Science or related Technology field.
- Two years of management experience in a university.
- Experience in developing and maintaining partnerships with P-12 schools and local industry.
- History of obtaining and managing external funding.

SUPERVISION GIVEN TO: Faculty in
the Department of Technology and Justice Studies, student
workers.
HOURS: Monday-Friday,
8:00am-5:00pm
