Research Fellow
The College of Veterinary Medicine seeks candidates for a Research Fellow position to assist with and conduct original research including planning, maintaining or completing research projects involved in the discovery of new knowledge and concepts which require advanced level scientific/research knowledge and abilities.

Essential Functions
- Develops or assists in the development of complex project proposals, research, plans and protocols.
- Designs and/or conducts complex experiments and studies in pursuit of new knowledge, techniques and concepts.
- Assists with logistics of research to include equipment, materials, and labor needs.
- Collects data/samples related to own research as well as others’ research.
- Records, processes and analyzes data/samples.
- Documents results in writing and presents results to others.
- Prepares research results for publication or presentation at conferences to include performing literature reviews.
- Serves as a supervisor to other researchers and students in area of expertise.
- May provide consulting to third party organizations related to research activities.
- May maintain projects, coordinate funding, and/or manage ordering and budgets.

Requirements for Additional Job Levels
Depending on the combination of education and experience, selected candidates may be hired as a Research Fellow and assigned Levels II, III, or IV. Salary range determined by eligibility for Level II, III, or IV.
Consideration for Research Fellow II requires:
- Doctoral degree in discipline appropriate to position and 2 years experience.
Consideration for Research Fellow III requires:
- Doctoral degree in discipline appropriate to position and 4 years experience, including at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent.
Consideration for Research Fellow IV requires:
- Doctoral degree in discipline appropriate to position and 6 years experience, including at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent.

Minimum Skills and Abilities
Possesses highly advanced knowledge in the field of research and the design of experiments, and has broad expert knowledge of a wide range of complex equipment, materials and processes related to research planning, funding and operations. Possesses skill related to design of research and the recording, analysis, presentation and publication of research findings. Ability to supervise and instruct others in field of research.
Minimum Technology Skills
Computer (word processing, data analysis, etc.) and standard laboratory equipment.

Desired Qualifications
Experience with gene therapy, neurological disease research, grant preparation, and publication/verbal communication of research results (in the English language). Must be able to work collegially with others on large, multidisciplinary research projects.
