Job Summary:

The Occupational Therapy Academic Fieldwork Coordinator is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track Academic Staff position. The Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC) develops, oversees, coordinates, and manages the required entry-level fieldwork component of occupational therapy professional education, ensuring that it complies with the accreditation standards set by the Accreditation Council of Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). The position also supports the OT Program through efforts in teaching, scholarship, and service. The Occupational Therapy Program is part of the Department of Kinesiology in the School of Education at UW Madison. Responsibilities:

Fieldwork Supervision & Management
Schedule Level I and Level II placements for entry level OT students
Oversee, maintain and archive correspondence with fieldwork placement sites regarding contracts, placements, onboarding requirements, student progress, etc. in collaboration with fieldwork administrative staff.
Train and supervise fieldwork administrative staff as needed to carry out duties.
Maintain Occupational Therapy Academic Fieldwork Handbook and online Intranet for fieldwork management and communication.

Fieldwork Program Development
Integrate fieldwork experiences within the entry-level OT academic coursework.
Seek out new innovative opportunities for fieldwork experiences.
Secure and maintain adequate numbers of high quality, appropriate Level I and Level II placements for all enrolled students.
Support FW preceptors at active practice sites regarding academic and student matters.
Evaluate and monitor the quality and effectiveness of fieldwork sites.
Collect and report program evaluation findings to meet ACOTE and University standards.
Acquire and disseminate knowledge about best practices in fieldwork education and the role of academic fieldwork preceptors.
Regularly participate in fieldwork-related activities at state and national OT meetings.

Student Oversight & Coordination
Advise students in selecting, and oversee their assignment to, fieldwork sites.
Prepare students for success in Level II fieldwork.
Support students who are engaged in Level II fieldwork via Intranet Discussion Board, site visits and other communication as needed.
Collaborate with preceptors to optimize student learning and performance during the Level II fieldwork experience.
Serve as a program resource for any field work related issues.

INSTRUCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the instructor on record for Level II fieldwork courses.
Serve as instructor for assigned courses for entry-level and post-professional occupational therapy education.

SCHOLARLY RESPONSIBILITIES
Engage in scholarly activities that support the instructional and fieldwork responsibilities of the position and are consistent with the mission, curricular design and outcomes of the program including, but not limited to:
Participate in campus, state, national and international opportunities for enhancing knowledge and skills in assigned instructional areas.

GENERAL DUTIES
Support overall OT program success as needed during transition to new entry level curriculum and for ongoing program needs.

Education:

Required
Terminal Degree
Earned clinical or post-professional doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy or related field (OTD, DrOT,DSc, EdD, ScD, DrPH, PhD) awarded by an institution accredited by a USDE-recognized regional accrediting body, or in process.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years practice experience as an Occupational Therapist.

Demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving skills including engagement in inter-professional, collaborative and collegial interactions.

Experience in instruction and supervision of graduate students.

License/Certification:

Required
Occupational Therapist with NBCOT certification and eligible for licensure in Wisconsin
