Position Summary

Exciting opportunity to manage the financial affairs and business office of a busy clinical facility on the beautiful South Campus at the University at Buffalo .

As Clinic Business Practice Manager for the UB Speech-Language & Hearing Clinic , you will :
  • manage the financial affairs of the clinic (e.g., billing, coding/fee scales, clinic payables and receivables, expenditures, budget, financial forecasts, and quarterly financial reports), internal policy and procedures for effective resource management, business operations and corporate compliance, as well as, general clinic operations.
  • supervise the posting of daily charges, review encounter forms, and update service center codes as necessary.
  • oversee purchasing, reporting and maintenance of clinic equipment.
  • serve as Billing Compliance Office for the Clinic working closely with the Clinic Director, Billing Coordinator, HIPAA Privacy and Security Officials, UB Business Services and the Department Chair.
  • be the Clinic’s direct liaison to insurance companies, legal counsel, and other internal/external constituents.
Responsibilities also include :
  • overseeing and rolling out of health insurance mandates, safety and training mandates, and billing mandates .
  • facilitating student malpractice insurance, monitoring credentialing of practitioners.
  • helping with travel payments and other tasks for clinical faculty
  • supporting the externship coordinators’ needs related to external community placements.
  • helping facilitate marketing and outreach, as well as, manage community contracts.
The Clinic Business Practice Manager will supervise clinic staff including the Medical Billing Specialist (SL-2), Clinic Receptionist (OA2) and student assistants/work-study students assigned to the clinic or clinical faculty members. The Clinic Business Practice Manager will also create office schedules and provide support to these individuals, assisting with day-to-day office operations and functions.

The mission of the UB Speech-Language & Hearing Clinic is to provide quality, state-of-the-art services to individuals with speech, language and-or hearing impairments to achieve their maximum communication potential. The clinic is the training facility for students who are majoring in Speech Pathology and Audiology in the Department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences . The Clinic provides services for hundreds of Western New York residents each year.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to interact with a diverse constituency
  • Computer experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access) required
  • Must be able to manage competing priorities and demonstrate a commitment to learning new skills as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or advanced business training
  • Three to five years of administrative experience with significant independent responsibility preferred
  • Experience managing the business operations in a medical or clinical setting
