Minimum Education/Training/Experience
Associates degree or two (2) yeas of college credit.
Two (2) years of coursework in library sciences or two (2) years library experience. Preferred Education/Training/Experience
Library experience in a higher education setting. Minimum Knowledge & Skills
  • Customer service skills.
  • Basic library principles.
  • Modern office procedures.
  • Basic cataloging and circulation principles.
  • Database maintenance principles.
  • Using various library equipment.
  • Maintaining databases.
  • Using computers and software application programs.
  • Using various library equipment.
  • Prioritizing work and performing multiple tasks.
  • Monitoring and assigning work.
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
  • Circulation Experience.
  • Cataloging skills.
  • Experience with Ex Libris Alma.
  • Familiarity with Learning management systems ( LMS ).
  • Experience with online chat.
Licensing/Certification Requirements
N/A Job Duties
  • Under the direction of the Circulation Manager, supervises circulation activities during evenings/weekends.
  • Under the direction of a Librarian, processes books and articles for interlibrary loan and informs patrons of the arrival of interlibrary loan materials.
  • Updates and maintains patron data in the Circulation module of the library ILS in support of the circulation of library materials.
  • Processes and circulates library books, other library items, CHS and Reserves items enters/clears hold information in COM student records in Ellucian Colleague, contacts patrons as needed.
  • Supervises student workers.
  • Maintains department inventory of supplies and equipment and order supplies when needed.
  • Participates in online chat and other online formats such as Learning management systems ( LMS ).
  • Participates in student library scavenger hunts and tours.
  • Collects qualitative and quantitative statistical information using a Q-and-A reference system & knowledge base builder.
  • Assists in organizing and maintaining library stacks and displays.
  • Assists in documenting and updating Circulation guidelines.
  • Assists patrons in locating library materials and using various library equipment. Assists patrons in utilizing public catalog, answers directional questions.
  • Assists in documenting and updating Circulation guidelines.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
