Description:
The Business Coordinator III, under general supervision, provides staff support and coordination of a variety of business activities requiring independent judgment, including reviewing business documents and assisting in developing, monitoring, and reporting accounts and budget data with limited supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as an approver and back up signer of vouchers and
requisitions. Review and audit reconciliations of all accounts.
Develop, monitor, and report budget activity. Prepare complex
monthly and annual financial reports.
- Coordinate annual fiscal year closing activities and drafts new
fiscal year plans. Coordinate fiscal activities with little direct
supervision. Propose solutions to complex financial
problems.
- Develop budget estimates for research projects, detailed
integrated master schedules, and budget execution for research
activities.
- Audit and approve cash handling activities and oversee unit
purchasing activities as needed.
- Serve as liaison with financial, payroll and/or human
resources. Develop, implement and audit business procedures upon
approval and advises upper administration. Manage maintenance of
all business files.
- Manage personnel activities, coordinate and audit personnel
files, and review and approve leave requests as needed.
- Oversee the administration of contracts and grants. Prepare
budgets for review by principal investigator(s).
- Develop complex financial and statistical analyses and summary
reports. Compose standard and ad hoc reports and business-related
correspondence.
- Train staff on new and existing business procedures and
interprets policies and regulations for staff.
- Manage inventory process as needed. Serve as records management
coordinator.
- Supervise business staff and/or student workers and provide
supervision as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or other related
fields.
- Four (4) years of related experience in general office,
accounting, or personnel operations.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledgeable in cost accounting.
- Interpersonal and communication skills. Planning and
organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with
others.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a University Setting.
- Knowledge of project management software (Microsoft project,
etc.)
