We are seeking a Director of Applications to lead and manage a team of seven (7) Applications team members, responsible for the planning, development, implementation and support of administrative and academic systems across the college.  The Director of Applications reports to the Vice President & Chief Information Officer and collaborates with functional area leaders to define priorities for enterprise application-related projects and initiatives that align with the college's strategic direction.      

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and manage the Applications team, responsible for:
  • Supporting the student information system, ERP, and related applications including Business Objects and enterprise report-writing tools.
  • Ensuring software updates, patches and fixes are tested, planned, implemented an applied to test and production environments.
  • Coordinating enterprise application troubleshooting efforts to ensure timely resolution of issues and problems.
  • Verifying system configuration and security settings meet established standards and best practices.
  • Validating backup and restore procedures are followed and tested.
  • Oversee college-wide identification and analysis of business needs, select or design solutions to meet requirements, and manage related projects.
  • Serve as a co-chair of the Data Governance committee and participate on other committees to ensure departmental representation and provide expertise on issues as they relate to enterprise applications.
  • Work with college divisions to establish priorities and set direction for applications maintenance and development, data reporting and other application computing needs.
  • Develop and maintain vendor and consultant relationships in support of existing and proposed software services.

 
Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field is required.
  • 5 yrs. experience managing SIS/ERP applications and technical teams.
  • 3+ yrs. experience with relational databases, SQL programming and writing queries.
  • Experience maintaining higher education SIS/ERP systems (Ellucian Colleague, Banner, Jenzabar).
  • Working knowledge of enterprise reporting systems and the Ellucian Colleague data model is preferred.
  • Experience with SQL Server (2012, or newer).
  • Experience managing a project or serving as a project team lead on the implementation of an enterprise system.
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems, provide documentation, guidance and instruction to users at all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
