Work Conditions: Work is primarily indoor and sedentary in nature.

Duties of Position: The Project Manager (PM) provides support for the initiation, investigation, planning and execution of Information Technology (IT) projects.

The PM is responsible, either under the direction of a senior project manager or acting as the project focal point, to collaborate with the campus community to facilitate the submission of projects to IT, define requirements, vet the feasibility of a project request with members of Information Technology, develop project schedules, and coordinate and support Information Technology resources to successfully develop technology-related systems and services for the College.

The PM is also responsible to manage projects using accepted practices. The PM leads or participates in project review forums, develops and produces detailed reports, as well as dashboard-type reports, which are reviewed and actions developed on regular intervals.

Develops and maintains documentation in accordance with department standards.

Receives project assignments from the Senior Project Manager and advances escalations through the appropriate chain of command, in the absence of the Senior Project Manager.

Learns and contributes to the current project management process and procedures and can assist other team members or IT staff with those procedures as requested or needed.

Facilitates the intake of requirements and requests from the customer, and assignment of IT resources to projects.

Identifies and documents, as appropriate, key business requirements; utilizes data gathering methods such as interviews and questionnaires.

Works with the project sponsor, business lead and Information Technology resources to develop project requirements.

Vets project requests and/or requirements with IT management and technical resources to determine feasibility.

Works with IT managers to identify and allocate project resources.

Applies routine project management skills and tools to the appropriate processes.

Recommends solutions based on the evaluation of alternatives.

Develops project plans, including project milestones, tasks and due dates – including the identification and documentation of IT resource consumption, assumptions, risks and costs.

Tracks project tasks and milestones to a successful and timely conclusion.

Participates or leads project review forums within Information Technology.

Prepares project management reports as required.

Develops various forms of communicating project management processes for College constituents.

Manages vendor relationships as required.

Ensures support and IT services are met as outlined in the Service Level Agreements.

Keeps abreast of project management technologies.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or certificate in Project Management or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and applicable experience.

Experience Requirements: 3-5 years and background experience in business process analysis and/or project management is dependent upon grade level. Knowledge or experience in higher education is preferred. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work with end users to meet project deadlines. Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with users, pay attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks, and have strong organizational skills. Excellent communication and analytical skills required.
