Job Description
The Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures at Virginia Tech invites applications for a full-time instructor of Japanese position to begin August 10, 2022. 4/4 teaching load.
Required Qualifications
Requirements include: 1) MA or equivalent by time of appointment in Japanese language, literature, culture, language pedagogy, second language acquisition, or related field; 2) evidence of successful teaching of Japanese at a US university; 3) commitment to proficiency-based and communicative approaches to teaching language; 4) native or near-native proficiency in Japanese and English.
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal background check. Occasional travel to national conferences may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications: ability to teach all levels of Japanese language; willingness to participate in co-curricular activities.
