Job Summary
This is a 3rd shift position (10:00 pm - 6:30 am) from Sunday-Thursday. This position is primarily responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the parking garages and lots across the UWM campus. Operates large trucks and heavy equipment to collect, transport, and dump the institution's solid waste and recycling materials while ensuring compliance with environmental and governmental laws on what can/cannot be land filled. This is semi-skilled work related to grounds keeping on campus grounds including parking areas and equipment. This position performs a variety of grounds keeping activities throughout the year to maintain and improve the grounds of a facility or campus including parking garages and surface lots.

Starting salary range, depending on experience: $18-22/hour

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants for this vacancy must:

  • Possess a valid Wisconsin Driver license (or other such valid operator’s permit recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation) and be able to meet or exceed the minimum requirements for driving on state business as detailed here: https://uwm.edu/risk-management/drivers/
  • Minimum of one year experience with motorized cleaning equipment
  • Evidence of ability to frequently lift 50 pounds





Preferred Qualifications
Highly qualified candidates will also have:

  • Demonstrated customer service experience and/or has prior custodial experience
  • Demonstrated work experience with tractors, forklifts, or riding sweepers
  • Demonstrated experience of working outdoors in the elements
  • Active employment, in good standing, at UW-Milwaukee
