Essential Functions (Job Duties)
Wayne State University Law School seeks an Academic Services Officer III to serve in the capacity of the Law School's Assistant Director of Enrollment and Outreach. In coordination with the Law School's Assistant Dean of Admissions, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in recruitment, admission and counseling of graduate/doctoral students and increasing the yield of prospective students.

Essential Functions:
Provides admissions counseling to prospective and admitted first-year students and transfer students. Highlights benefits of the Law School using specific examples and a thorough explanation of programs and opportunities. Promote the community environment, alumni network and career opportunities.

Advises potential and admitted students on admission requirements, degree requirements, and graduation information. Handles student walk-ins, telephone inquiries, and email requests for information regarding the J.D. program. Must be knowledgeable of campus and law school resources designed to assist students with academic success. Ability to collaborate with other units on campus to provide support for students.

Counsels admitted students on important deadlines, critical information. and requirements. Manages admitted student Canvas and Facebook pages. Organizes and manages both in-person and virtual admitted student events.

Collaborates with Assistant Dean of Admissions to develop and implement innovative and effective recruitment and enrollment strategies. Supports Assistant Dean of Admissions by managing Admissions staff to provide high-quality customer service for all who interact with the Admissions Office and to ensure the smooth function of all day-to-day operations.

Professionally promotes the Law School through recruitment events on campus and across the country. Creates new strategies aimed at growing applicant pool. Responsible for organizing and registering the Law School for in-person and virtual recruitment fairs across the country and Canada.

Represents and markets the J.D. program to internal and external constituencies, including current and prospective students, employers, and appropriate associations. Works with Associate Director of Marketing to generate and distribute monthly newsletter.

Acts as Admissions liaison for in-house marketing department and MF Digital Marketing by serving as the primary point of contact to extract, manipulate, and analyze prospect and recruitment data. Works collaboratively with in-house and external marketing departments to develop and execute marketing and communication strategies in support of enrollment goals.

Performs reporting functions and data management in ACES2: creating new reports, analyzing, manipulating and interpreting data. Manages all communications distributed to prospective students and admitted students from ACES2.

Recruits, trains, and manages team of student ambassadors to assist with day-to-day office functions. Responsible for training new full-time admissions staff members on office policies and procedures.

Unique Duties

Qualifications
Master's degree required, J.D. preferred.

Minimum 2-5 years' experience in higher education in relevant areas; enrollment services, academic advising, curricular planning, student affairs or directly related experience.

Experience with mentoring and establishing rapport with students of all ethnic backgrounds.

Demonstrated excellence in time management and organization skills.

Demonstrated excellence in written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to work well with others, with a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues and students.

Critical thinking skills and the ability to propose and implement effective solutions to issues and/or problems.

Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and efficiently prioritize workload.
